The Artist
Desneige Meyer comes
from a long line of women artists. She spent her youth drawing,
painting and sculpting for fun, and sold her first painting publicly
at 15 years old.
Desneige studied at the Alberta College of Art and Design as a Glass
Blowing major, with a minor in Sculpture. She found great
fascination with the human form, and focused much of her attention
on trying to capture the essence of life. Before long she discovered
the process of lifecasting and was delighted to have the ability to
work with such a detailed casting medium.
After taking a year to explore the art world in Europe, Desneige and
her family settled in Abbotsford, British Columbia, where she
started Memory Castings – an all encompassing lifecasting business
servicing families, expectant and new parents, and pet owners with
castings of the people and pets they love.
Desneige was awarded the Gloria Foisy Entrepreneur of the Year award
in 2006, and was nominated for the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce
Business Excellence Awards in 2007. |
